How His ArtĀ differs from other famous brands?

Direct soldering technique!

"Mr. Yurman works with bronze rods and sculpts directly with
the pure white heat of an acetylene torch to create works
of art whose size decreases but not the scope. "
From an analysis of his exhibition of welded sculptures in Martha's Vineyard, 1970

In 1958 at the age of 15,Ā heĀ learned direct welding from sculptor Ernesto Gonzalez. The technique, developed by Picasso and Julio Gonzales, consists of melting fine metal rods using an acetylene torch to create three-dimensional linear shapes.Ā
This method has been aptly described by sculptors as a method of "drawing in space".

The line takes shape. For him, drawing was a way
essential expression - until today, he always carries a moleskin drawing book.
The more he learned to master the art of direct welding, the more his drawings took shape in bronze. angels, faces and mythical silhouettes sprang from
his torch. Belt loops and jewelry quickly followed in precursors of the designs
who would one day make his name a mark.

Art for all!

Traces of David's tight reverie also took up residence at Lincoln Center,
in the David H. Koch Theater Walkway designed by Philip Johnson
in the early 1960s. Edward Meshekoff, a public artist, used David's welding skills
to realize his vision of natural balustrades pleasant to the touch.

Yurman has incorporated his personal touch into the work, through subtly fanciful forms forged in the hidden secrets of the Rorschach type of light metal that will delight the most observant theater lovers.

Gifts for Sybil!

David's direct solder jewelry became more minimalist, revealing the metal chopsticks themselves. Often thinking of Sybil, he wondered, "Would that please Sybil? Would she wear it? "

The first piece he created for her was a pleasing string of welded ties that she wore around the waist as a belt, or as a necklace by making two turns around the neck, or even as a bracelet by making several turns around the wrist.

Madison's inspiration!

The original Sybil tie belt inspired the new DY MadisonĀ® collection, an interpretation modern chain that is just as versatile as its forerunner. It takes its name from the first shop of the company which opened its doors on Madison Avenue in 1999. Each link, simple and pure, recalls the welds of David's early days, where he used metal rods to draw lines in space.

For him, drawing was anĀ essentialĀ meansĀ of expression - until today,Ā
he still carries a moleskin drawing book.Ā The more he learned to master the art of
Ā directĀ weldingĀ Ā , theĀ more his drawings took shape in bronze.Ā Angels,Ā
faces and mythical silhouettes sprang fromĀ Ā his torch.Ā Belt loops and jewelsĀ
soon followed in the forerunner of designsĀ that would make a brand name a day.Ā

Ā

The Yurman continuum

There are many things that make Yurman jewelry exceptional works of art.Ā "Inventiveness" would beĀ at the top of the list and the "classic" second ... Classic and innovation are words that we do not usually useĀ together.Ā Certainly that referring to the twisted models ofĀ him they define their inspiration.

In almost forty years, the torsade unites a whole series of artistic works.Ā Throughout eachĀ collection, twist is used in an innovative and elegant way, as a contrast toĀ Ā smooth polishedĀ metalĀ or flattening its cylindrical shape so that the twist becomes a bas-relief and anĀ Ā experiment in perspective. .Ā The twist serves as accentuation, bubble, frame, attachment, and is carved in stone.

Ā Serving as a subtle signature, it often appears inside a ring or on the back of a pendant where only theĀ Ā one who wears it will see it.Ā David turns the twist into knots, referring to the rope with the twist connection.Ā Or heĀ
sculpts it in a woven pattern to interpret the nautical cord.Ā When he mixes gold and silver, theĀ
striking combination of metals is united by twist.Ā Oval link chains mean that twist is a patternĀ
found in all designs and a symbol of connectivity.

As a primary form, we find the twist in the natural world and in the arts;Ā as such, it belongs to a universal familyĀ
of forms across the cultures of the world ... We find these sculptural forms throughout the human experience.

Ā

Long before humans arrived, plants created twists and taught us how to create them by following their example.Ā Throughout history, torsade isĀ
linked to communication and connection.Ā Archaeological evidence from various areas indicates that torsade was originallyĀ
developed as a technology for reinforcing materials by interlacing natural fibers withĀ each other ... Through nature, technology and art, twist connects the entire chain of human experience.

By opening a connection with the creativity of the past, the twist pattern has allowed the Yurman to inhabitĀ a world from an ancestral family of designs.

Long before formalizing his career as a sculptor and jeweler,Ā He discovered, prophetically,Ā Ā the meaning of twist in nature.Ā
